Vialox
Also known as: Pentapeptide-3V, synthetic cone snail peptide, conotoxin mimic peptide
Vialox is a synthetic pentapeptide that mimics the activity of conotoxin from cone snails, acting as an antagonist of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors at the neuromuscular junction. Similar to Syn-Ake but derived from cone snail venom biochemistry, it reduces facial muscle contraction to smooth expression wrinkles.
Half-Life
Not applicable (topical; effect duration hours)
Route
Topical
Category
Skin & Cosmetic, Anti-Aging & Longevity
Key Benefits
- Reduces dynamic wrinkles from repetitive facial expressions
- Reversible muscle-relaxing effect without injection
- Smooths forehead, periorbital, and perioral lines
- Complementary to collagen-stimulating peptides
- Well-studied tolerability in cosmetic concentrations
- Can be combined with Syn-Ake for dual conotoxin/viper venom effect
Mechanism of Action
Vialox (Pentapeptide-3V) competitively antagonizes nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR) at the neuromuscular junction, similar to the mechanism of conotoxin peptides. By reducing acetylcholine-mediated depolarization in facial muscles, it decreases the amplitude of repetitive muscle contractions that deepen expression lines over time. The effect is topical, reversible, and concentration-dependent.
Dosing Protocols
Anti-Wrinkle (Standard)
- Dose
- 0.005-0.05% in formulation
- Frequency
- Twice daily
- Timing
- AM and PM on clean skin, target expression lines
- Cycle
- 4-12 weeks for assessment; ongoing use
Often paired with Syn-Ake for additive neuromuscular relaxation. Both target nAChR via different peptide sequences. Apply before heavier moisturizers. Use consistently for cumulative wrinkle reduction.

Side Effects
- Generally very well-tolerated topically
- Rare contact sensitivity or mild irritation
- No clinically significant systemic neuromuscular effects at cosmetic doses
Contraindications
Known sensitivity to synthetic pentapeptidesCaution with neuromuscular disorders (theoretical)Pregnancy: insufficient safety data
Storage
Store at room temperature in sealed container away from direct sunlight and heat. Stable in aqueous formulations at pH 4-7.
