Reading Your Bloodwork

Key biomarkers and what to watch

Why bloodwork matters

Regular bloodwork is essential for anyone using peptides, TRT, or GLP-1 medications. It provides objective data on how your body is responding and helps catch potential issues early. Get baseline labs before starting any new protocol, then recheck at 6-8 weeks.

Hormone panel

Total testosterone, free testosterone, estradiol (E2), LH, FSH, SHBG, and prolactin. For TRT users, testosterone and estradiol are the most critical. For natural optimization, LH and FSH help assess pituitary function.

Always test in the morning (before 10 AM) for the most accurate hormone readings, as levels fluctuate throughout the day.

Metabolic markers

Fasting glucose, HbA1c, fasting insulin, and lipid panel (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides). GLP-1 users should track glucose and HbA1c closely. MK-677 users should monitor fasting glucose as it can increase insulin resistance.

Liver and kidney

AST, ALT, GGT (liver enzymes), creatinine, BUN, and eGFR (kidney function). Most peptides are very well tolerated, but monitoring liver and kidney function is good practice for any protocol.

Complete blood count

Hematocrit and hemoglobin are important for TRT users, as testosterone can increase red blood cell production. Elevated hematocrit (above 54%) may require dose adjustment or blood donation.

Track your labs in the Lab Work section to see trends over time. Reference ranges are built in for common biomarkers.
