Pinealon

Also known as: EDR Peptide, Glu-Asp-Arg, Pineal Tripeptide

Pinealon is a synthetic tripeptide (Glu-Asp-Arg) developed by the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation, designed to penetrate the blood-brain barrier and exert neuroprotective, neurogenic, and anti-aging effects by regulating pineal gland and brain cell function.

Half-Life

Short (peptides rapidly degraded), but epigenetic/gene regulatory effects persist

Route

SubQ, Oral, Intranasal

Key Benefits

  • Neuroprotection against oxidative stress and hypoxia
  • Promotes neuronal regeneration and repair
  • Improves memory and cognitive function
  • Enhances sleep quality via melatonin regulation
  • Anti-aging effects on brain cells
  • May slow cognitive decline in neurodegeneration
  • Improves cerebrovascular circulation
  • Reduces neuroinflammation

Mechanism of Action

Pinealon is a short regulatory peptide that acts as a gene expression modulator in neuronal and glial cells. It penetrates the blood-brain barrier due to its small size and interacts with chromatin (DNA-histone complexes) in neurons, activating expression of antioxidant enzymes, BDNF, and neuroprotective proteins. It modulates pineal gland activity, enhancing melatonin secretion and resetting circadian rhythms. Pinealon also exhibits anti-apoptotic effects in neurons exposed to hypoxia or oxidative stress, and may normalize neurotransmitter balance in aging brains.

Dosing Protocols

Neurogenesis / Cognitive Protocol

Dose
5–10 mg (oral) or 50–100 mcg (SC)
Frequency
Once daily for 10 days
Timing
Morning, preferably fasting
Cycle
10-day course, repeat every 3–6 months

Russian bioregulator protocols typically use 10-day courses; original research used 5 mg oral tablets

Neuroprotection / Anti-aging

Dose
5 mg oral or 100–200 mcg SC
Frequency
Daily for 10 days
Timing
Morning
Cycle
2–4x per year

Longer cycles may be used in active neurodegeneration
