Mechanism of Action#

DSIP (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) is a naturally occurring nonapeptide. It crosses the blood-brain barrier and modulates GABA-A receptors and serotonergic systems to promote delta-wave sleep. DSIP also suppresses CRH (corticotropin-releasing hormone) to reduce cortisol, modulates pituitary LH secretion, and has antioxidant properties. It stabilizes sleep architecture by increasing slow-wave sleep duration without affecting REM.

Contraindications#

Use with caution with other sedatives (additive effects). Not recommended with severe sleep apnea without supervision. Limited data on pregnancy/lactation.

Storage#

Store lyophilized at -20°C. Reconstituted solution at 4°C, use within 30 days. Protect from light.
